It is Important to Understand
Why You Spend
Everyone has different reasons why they spend money on items
other than the necessities of life. These reasons are
typically for different emotionally related reason.
We all know that some people will "reward" themselves with
chocolate, and this is a particular source of comfort for
them. It is the same way with some people who spend money
in response to their emotions.
There are ocassions in life where you will feel it
appropriate to go out and have dinner at an expensive
resturant.
Often people will go shopping in a vain attempt to make
themselves feel better by buying something. They will buy
expensive items more for the benefit of others. Some will
buy costly cars and boats for the exclusive purpose of
impressing others.
You will find that people buy for a variety of
reasons. Some people find that they feel better after
making a purchase, and it helps them get over feelings of
sadness. Some people will tend to buy more when they are
happy, and the buying makes them feel more of what they are
currently feeling.
You must consider the future when buying today.
Purchases made on credit today will need to be paid for in the
next year or so. A lot of people are not thinking about
this when they make purchases unconsciously. This type of
impulse buying is not good, because it is usually for things
that you don't need. These non-essential items are
responsible for most of the debt that people have, and they
usually tend to regret these purchases later.
It is important that you try to define
why you are buying. If you can figure out why you are
making certain purchases then you may be able to gain a lot
more control over your finances. Having a good
understanding of why you buy will hopefully keep you from going
on shopping sprees that will only cause you many sleepless
nights, stress, and undeserved worry over your financial burden
brought on by such sprees.
If you are unable to change your spending habits on your own
you may need to seek professional help if the problem continues
to persist. By consulting with a professional she may be
able to help rid you of these bad habits that are causing you
financial turmoil on a regular basis.
Usually excessive spending is due to bad habits that we are
unaware of that have developed over time.
